| Ms. Neena
Jolly (left) and Ms. Geeta Arora
(right) have known each other for
fifteen years through the Lady Irwin
College Alumnae Association and the
All India Women's Education
Fund Association (AIWEFA).
After assisting humanitarian
events and publishing a directory of
15,000 NGOs, the two decided to
create an organization of their own.
"We felt inspired by the work
that many NGOs were doing, but we
never had the chance to meet with
beneficiaries," Ms. Jolly said, "We
started Adharshila with the idea
that we could achieve better results
by working more closely with the
underprivileged."
The two uphold their original
vision through close
partnerships with slum communities.
"All our projects are catered to
the needs of the community," Ms.
Arora said. "Our programmes exist
because people have asked for them."
