About Adharshila

Adharshila is a young NGO, based in Kalkaji, New Delhi, India whose mission is to build foundations at the grassroots level with dedication and sincerity. Adharshila’s founders, Ms. Neena Jolly and Ms. Geeta Arora started the NGO in October 2004 with the aim of ensuring tangible benefits to slum communities

In the past two years, Adharshila has sponsored and hosted programmes including AIDS awareness workshops, legal counseling, and health camps. Adharshila has also invited doctors to conduct free heart and eye check-ups for slum residents. The center has partnered with the Food & Nutrition Board, WCD Department, and the Ministry of Human Resource Development to teach slum residents how to prepare low cost nutritionally rich food for children. Every December, Adharshila hosts a Christmas celebration and distributes gifts to the slum’s children.

Adharshila’s ongoing programs include the Adharshila Library, Legal Awareness, Bharti Computer Center, Apaar Remedial Course, and vocational training in beauty and healthcare.  Students who complete these courses earn certificates from Jan Shikshan Sansthan, Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) and Adharshila to present to prospective employers.

Adharshila’s services are available at low to no cost for slum communities.
